What is the CPCU® Conferment Ceremony?
The CPCU® conferment is a ceremony held each year to recognize new CPCU® graduates. This conferment is held on the first day of the CPCU® society’s annual meeting.
The CPCU® society’s annual meeting is a four-day conference; all CPCU’s® are invited to attend to listen to industry leaders present on pressing topics in the property casualty industry. This is a great opportunity to meet other CPCU’s® and learn from industry leaders.
And don’t worry, if you’re not eligible for this year’s trip to Hawaii, checkout where the next CPCU® conferment ceremonies will be held:

What to do in Hawaii at the 2016 CPCU® Conferment Ceremony
1) Attend the Conferment Ceremony and the CPCU® Society’s Annual Meeting
This is an obvious one; the CPCU® Conferment Ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday September 17th, it’s a great recognition and if you’re part of the 2016 CPCU® class you should definitely attend.
Sunday September 18th through Tuesday September 20th is jam packed with over 40 education sessions, 70 guest speakers and various networking opportunities with over 8,000 insurance professionals from around the world. I highly recommend attending these sessions as it will be a great opportunity to network and learn more about the industry.

2) Explore Around the Hawaii Convention Center
The conference will be held at the Hawaii convention center, which is right in the center of everything. The conference center is right next to Kahanamoku Beach (a 4 star beach with restaurants, drinks and surfing), Kalakaua Avenue with lots of shops and attractions and only a couple miles from downtown Honolulu.
3) Hiking
Hawaii is known for some of the greatest hiking and running trails in the United States. I recommend checking out this link for some great hiking trails. You can get some spectacular views of the surreal beautiful landscape.
4) Outdoor stuff
Pretty vague I know, but you just spent a ton of time studying and the average Hawaii temperature in September is 88.5 degrees Fahrenheit so you better get some time outdoors! You can:
- Surf
- Checkout beaches
- Hike volcanoes
- Scuba dive
- Golf
- Shop
- Go to a water park
- Swim with dolphins, sea lions and sharks
5) Honolulu zoo
The Honolulu zoo is only about 2 miles from the Hawaii Convention Center; 42 acres of land with over 900+ animals, you can’t go wrong spending the day with animals!
Whatever you choose, even if it’s just spending some time away from those CPCU® books, you deserve it! Congrats on completing your CPCU® if you feel like bragging to someone, please email me. I’d be happy to listen to your brags.
